Copy of letter from H. M. & Co. dated 26th Nov. 1916.
Dear sir,
5969
Rect iRe 12217
It is very much to our regret that we have delayed in re-
plying your letter of the 18th July, because when it was re-
ceived our Mr. Chue was absent from Hong Kong, and we had to
wait till his return before we could discuss the matter referred
to, in your letter. He returned here on the 11th inst. after a
trip in Japan and Hankow, After a consideration in the matter
we now decide that it is much advisable for yourself to take the
place of our mutual friends in City Road, and as to the question
whether we want you to come to China to have a conference on all
the matters, we deen it is not necessary as it is, a matter of
fact, a loss of your time in making all the necessary arrange-
ments to continue our shipments. We rather prefer to get Pero
than Ipo, and we therefore wonder if you can do this in any of
the Continental Ports. As regards the "ways and means" of
shipping, the present one is good, and if there be any better
ones to faciliate the shipment you may adopt it, and advise
accordingly. We also much prefer that Mr. B. is willing to
privately take interest in the welfare as he is an expert to
adjust the quality of the goods. In regard with commission
and allowance etc. in addition to those already allowed in
each shipment we are very pleased to hear you and are quite
agreeable to pay what you think fair and reasonable.
Trusting to hear good result from you.
Yours sincerely,
I. CHU.
